Pennsylvania Law

Under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law, a Mandated Reporter who willfully fails to report suspected child abuse is in violation of the law.

A mandated reporter who willfully fails to report a case of suspected child abuse or to make a referral to the appropriate authorities is subject to enhanced criminal penalties, up to and including the level of a felony.

Penn State Employment

In accordance with Penn State Policy AD72, if any University employee willfully fails to report a case of suspected child abuse, it will result in disciplinary action, up to and including, dismissal. If you are a Penn State volunteer and you fail to report suspected child abuse in accordance with Policy AD39, you will be dismissed from the program.
